Why I Picked Astro

· astro, web

Astro’s pitch is simple: your site is content, so treat it that way.

Zero JavaScript by default

Every page renders to static HTML at build time. Nothing is downloaded, hydrated, or re-rendered in the browser unless you explicitly ask for it — which makes the default fast, accessible, and hard to break.

Content collections

Posts are typed data, not loose files. The schema in src/content.config.ts means a missing title or a malformed date fails the build instead of surfacing as a blank page in production.

The output stays boring

What ships is HTML and CSS. No runtime bundle to audit, no framework version to keep patched. For a personal site, boring is a feature.
